Most of us in Tropic Culture love the sport and  very excited to have the world cup begin. Brazil has always been a favorite among other teams. Cant wait to see what happens and who will be crowned world Champion. Let us know what team your pulling for and we will see who prevails. Soccer fanatics can be a bit crazy at times. Last year we went to Baltimore to see inter milan and chelsea play an exibition game at the Ravens stadium. The house was full and sold out. It was pretty crazy to experience the chants, energy and patriatism towards a team. Needles to say we went bar hoping afterwards and it got even more interesting. We ended up in a bar full of Chelsea fans while we were wearing inter milan attire. Not a smart idea. If you are interested in knowing what happened just shoot us a note.

Our upcoming show is in Durham this Friday, June 18, 2010. Take a look at our events page for more details.

Drumstrong 2010 Pictures http://feeds.artistdata.com/a-AR-ZX4INCH6SUF89ZW7/ADN-NW-BC8C6A2172EC8822 This weekend was a great experience with lots of activity and great people. As the drumcircle kept drumming through the night, The main stage hosted a lot of great talent and music. You defenitely got a taste of all kinds of music from all over the world. We got up at 10:00 pm to start our 1 hour set for the night. The energy was great and everyone was very receptive to our music, lyrics and rhythms. We like to thank Scott Swimmer (Drumstrong Director and organizer) for having us there to perform. It was a special night for us as one of our own lost a loved one because of Cancer. If you didn't know, DrumStrongs whole purpose is to raise funds for Cancer research and is part of the humanitarian fight to defeat this plague. We have all been touched by releatives and friends regarding an experience with Cancer. Much love goes out to Andy (our Trombone) and his family for the loss of his mother. Below are some pictures of DrumStrong 2010 and Tropic Culture on stage.

Later in the week we went up to Greensboro to perform at the Blind Tiger. Had a great time. Thanks for the pizza. Today we will be performing at the Double Door Inn in Charlotte, NC. This will be a turning point for Tropic Culture as we are performing for some industry professionals. Wish us Luck. More importantly we hope that all can make it out . The opening band will be a Funk-reggae band called ZF and the Essentials. See you tonight.

Last nights Tropic Culture's acoustic show at Pura Vida http://tropicculture.com/blog.cfm?feature=114780&postid=129458 Blog entry by

Yesterday evening we had the privilege to perform an acoustic set at Pura Vida Worldly Art in Charlotte, NC. The listen ing room in the back has a great intimate atmosphere where all get to experience the vibe of the music and emotional transitions and interpretations. Familiar faces were seen as well as new unknown faces. We thank Teresa for the opportunity and greatly appreciate all who were there for the performance. A unique event happened yesterday. Petey, who is typically our bass player, took upon himself to try to play the Puerto Rican Cuatro. The Cuatro is a 5 course 10 string instrument. Its along the family line of guitars but smaller. It was a great success and he did a phenomenal job. Just another arsenal added to our repertoire of instruments. Yesterday we had Petey, Gabe, Alberto, Jani, and Jorge come together to show half the size of Tropic Culture. Instruments represented were guitars, Bass, Cuatro, Vocals, Latin Percussion and Violin. We look forward to doing it again soon. Coming up this Thursday is our Full band gig at the Visulite Theater. Hope to see you all there. If you are interested in visiting and seeing what Pura Vida Worldly Art store is all about, visit them at http://puravidaart.com/. you check the schedule and meet the owner and so forth. See you all This Thursday. Checking out....

This Past Weekend http://tropicculture.com/blog.cfm?feature=114780&postid=86970 Blog entry by

What a weekend. On Saturday we headed our way to the Flat Rock Music Festival. It was raining the entire ride up there and finally cleared out when we got close to the facilities. Speaking of facilities We drove our trailer and vehicle through some trails. We got stuck in Mud to find out we were going the wrong way. Had a tractor come to our rescue and pull us out. THANKS! So we made it finally to our destination after all the road challeges we acquired. The Festival was pretty awesome with the GYM bein full of people, barefooted, happy and ready to party. WE ended up starting about 1:00 am. Played for 2 hours and started to pack so we can head over to our next destination: The International Folk Festival. We stopped half way and got to our hotels at 6:30 am in the morning. Slept for about 3 to 4 hours and headed our way up for another 2:30 hour drive. WE finally get there and this stage was HUGE! Lots of people around and ready for us to get started. While performing I had a fLy or Nat driving me nuts. it would not leave me alone. It would fly by my ear. I would turn my head over really quick to try to get it away. While I was playing. It had to look funny, or look like I had a condition as I did it serveral times through out the show. finally I just stopped and took care of the problem, to than have another come by and do the same thing again. Well, we had a great time. We like to thank Kathleen and all the great help we had at the Flat Rock Music. We like to thank Kelvin for being a great sport and accommmodating us at the international Folk Festival. Great job to both.
Until next time...

Past few gigs experience http://tropicculture.com/blog.cfm?feature=114780&postid=78027 Blog entry by

Its time to drop a line or two and wanted to write about our past month and a half dates.
First I like to start with the Acoustic set for the GAP's 40th year anniversary celebration. WE got the priveliage to perform an acoutic set at the Greensboro Four Seasons Mall. Most importantly we met some wonderful individuals: James, John, Dotie, Emily, Dale and others that I really can't remember off the top of my head. Thanks for the support and being there for Tropic Culture.

The Following week we made it over to the Blind Tiger in Greensboro, NC. Doc was a great host and gave us the oportunity to throw down at the Blind Tiger. Thanks Doc and everyone there to support us: Julie, Aaron, and many of our friends from the area.

That Saturday we ended up playing an acoustic set at Pura Vida Worldly Art. not only was it fun, it was a great intimate experience with everyone's eyes on us. The liscening room was great and Teresa was a great host. We met Carlos, The videographer and Alex, the photographer. Both great individuals that love what they do. We certainly appreciate the love for the arts, not just music but photography, arts, andvideography. Teresa thanks and all who attended the events.

Labor day weekend came by really fast and hit us a mini tour of three shows that weekend. On Friday we played at the Rock Shop, where we shered the stage with some pretty nice rock bands from different areas: The Token Black Experience, Gaylord, and Sixgun Republic. Thanks Shawn for having us there, love the place. And to all the musicians and bands, preciate the compliments.

Its was rough that night as we left the rock shop at 3:40 in the morning to arrive in Jacksonvill, NC at about 6 in the morning. We had to meet Benjie at 11 in the morning to register our ourself to get into Camp Lejeune. We played that afternoon at onslow beach. The weather was relly relaxing, wind was going and Gabes (Lead Guitar) family and friends were there to cheer, amongs others. We really appreciate the hospitality that camp lejeune and families have presented to us. We got the privalage to eat some puertorican and mexican dishes before and after the show. Boy was that good. Can't wait to go for some more. By the way, Thanks Susan for having us.

Finally we woke up Sunday Morning to drive back home to get ready for our Midtwon Sundries at the Lake show. We got the opportunity to open for Bankie Banks. You guys have to check him out. Cool stuff. Gene was a great host as always and we enjoyed every minute of it.

For now that is all and thanks for all of you that make the Tropic Culture world happen.

Hasta Next time,
checking out, Jorge
