Yea, yea!! It's that time of year again, the 3rd annual DJ Collage/Libra birthday bash at JAM JAM! So, everybody come out and celebrate with us! And to help us bring in the vibes just right, we have a very special guest in the place, representing Great Stone Soundsystem, a true veteran sound in the world of reggae music: Dr. Rock!! Here's more on the good doctor:

DR ROCK (Great Stone Soundsystem)

As a youth, Dr. Rock sailed Caribbean waves and listened to 80's reggae music while he fell asleep each night. He started with drums and now he controls metal, wax and wires. After years of selecting hip-hop, funk and reggae, his devotion to classic reggae, dancehall and dub led him to form Great Stone Soundsystem. Great Stone Soundsystem's positive, energetic, and sweaty gatherings bumped all around Los Angeles. Over ten years he rocked spots like Dub Club, Jamaica Gold, and many rhythmic nights at The Temple Bar. The infamous Drop Out, a Great Stone manifestation at Hollywood's elusive Jamaican speak-easy, leveled vibes and gathered a faithful crowd. His weekly live show, "Dr. Rock's Free Clinic" on the respected and eclectic internet radio, www.dublab.com garnered fans all over the globe. He has been honored to perform with some of the greatest names in reggae. As he blasted sirens and mixed layers of classic dancehall and roots all over L.A. Dancefloors, The Beat Magazine called him "talented, passionate and humble".

Great Stone is honored to have shared the stage with Burning Spear. Culture. Scientist. Mad Professor. Pablo Moses. The Abyssinians. DJ Shadow. Cut Chemist. The Congos. Apple Gabriel. Sound Tribe Sector 9. The Rhythm Doctors. Damon Aaron. Twinkle Brothers. Adrian Sherwood. Lee Scratch Perry. General Smiley. And many more. I personally met Dr. Rock in Bellingham (where he currently resides) playing in the 2 Blessed Coast family reunions that took place there. I was immediately impressed with Dr Rock's passion towards reggae music and his knowledge of it. And he's pretty nice wit him microphone chat too! We're very honored to have him here inna Seakkle....

Every Sunday nite DJ Million (aka Davee C) holds it down @ Seamonster for Jamaica Funk Sundays: a nite rooted in reggae but isn't afraid to represent other genres of music that move your soul as well. This Sunday, Million hosts a special nite of Dubstep/Dancehall fusion with very special guest: MONKEYTEK outta Portland. Here's a bit more about him...

Monkeytek has been DJ'ing since 1996. He grew up on Dub and Jungle and is heavy into Dubwise Dubstep and Dancehall. Alongside his friend Ryan Organ (aka badbwoy Canuk), he runs the monthly Various soundsystem party in Portland which hosts a roster of special guests such as Starkey, DJG, Kode9 and many others. He also works for Lo Dubs Records, Portland's own dubstep label, finding bass heavy tunes to release on 12" records.

He'll also be joined by Mr Chatman pon di mic and this nite will be pt.2 in the Monkeytek/Chatman trilogy...so come out and show your support for bass heavy vibrations...ONE LOVE
