Hey s'up people?

 

Yeah I haven't written in a while I must admit. However, we haven't been idling about. Over the past months, we've been writing new songs and giving our covers repertoire a major overhaul. There are some exciting surprises coming up but that's all I can say for the time being.

 

But the big news is, Paul Di'Anno, Iron Maiden's first singer, the guy who recorded the first two albums with them, is throwing a concert here in Malta. The concert will be on the 29th May. On top of that, people with a VIP ticket have access to a very special event on the 28th May - a Meet & Greet with Paul himself. And it gets better. We'll be performing on that night making sure the atmosphere is just right with our special brand of metal.

 

Seriously, this is set to be a great show and you don't wanna miss it. Ticket's a selling out fast and already half of ours are gone.

 

For tickets, you can call the band on 99291041. Remember, the VIP ticket is good for both concert and meet & greet so make sure you get in on both occasions.

Saturday 24th October, last week, has been one of the most amazing days for us as a band. We've finally had the official launch for our new album "Manipulated". The launch was celebrated with a live performance at Oranng, Paceville. But what's the fuss all about?

First off, I'm just blown away by the incredible amount of cooperation and help we had building this event. So here goes:

1. The management, promoters and staff at Oranng.
I'm telling you these guys treated us like royalty, working with us all the way and making sure both parties benefited from the event. They have our respect and friendship. Check em out on facebook:

2. Paul Falzon (Sound, Lights Stage)
Pawlu and his crew gave us a no-hassle package, worked hard and gave us the sound, stage, lighting etc that made this event BIG. These guys are pros in both equipment and approach. 3. Giovanni tal-Van.
HE IS, the guy with the van! Awesome dude, awesome (softly padded) van, for our equipment transportation needs. For a minimal fee he took our stuff there and back again and took care of it like it was his own. Hire Giovanni at this number: 9907 3869

4. Joe Vella who took care of our merch stand on the night and saved us a huge logistical headache when the person we had made arrangements with couldn't turn up.

Hail ye rabid fans of doom! (always wanted to say that; humor me)

Just wanted to keep you posted on the Malta Rock Festival. Well, the turnout was decent and the numbers slowly dwindled by the time we got on stage. BUT! Man did we bring the house down! We had an awesome time, lapped up every inch of the stage and gave it our all. Sure, Chris and I (Cedric) had a few near misses and a couple of pretty violent collisions (where's air-traffic control when you need it?) but hell it was fun!

Just looking at the photos now still brings back all the energy that was flowing on that stage. We're still waiting to get the photos on CD but you can go have a look at kevincassar.com and see for yourself. We're practically jumping out the pictures lol.

So guys (and gals), like after every gig, we wanna thank you so much for coming and having a good time. And for those of you who couldn't make it, I'm sorry, you REALLY missed out on this one. We wish you'd been there. But thanks for trying anyway!

On a final note, we wanna thank everyone at Lidea for setting up a great event and giving us this awesome stage, with awesome lights, with awesome venue, with awesome people with awesome... stuff and all that. We had a blast. And thanks to John Vella at Sound System and his staff of able-bodied sea men (inside joke). And respect goes to all the bands whom we shared the stage with, especially BNI, who headlined the event and kicked more ass than is conceivable by the human mind.

See you all at the next event which, between us, is bound to be the launch of our album "Manipulated" in October. We have the CD's in our hands and they look unbelievable. We've already had a few snatched out of our hands by some of our close circle of friends who kept insisiting on buying it before the launch. Definitely looking good hehe.

Great news! We've been approached by the organisers of the Malta Rock Festival asking us to play the third night of the festival on the 9th August. This is an awesome opportunity for us to get some exposure not only with our loyal metal following, but also with people who are not part of the underground metal scene.

But here's the tasty bit for y'all. Even though the tickets are VERY fairly priced (EUR10 1day, EUR18 2day EUR25 3day), the organisers have given us the go ahead for a special promotion. WHEN you buy a ticket for any of the first two days of the festival from us (you can buy a 1day ticket or a 2day ticket, up to you), you get the ticket for the final day (when WE are playing) for FREE! (EUR10 value)

I suggest you don't wait till the last minute to grab your free ticket as they're going fast and we only have a small number. At last count there are only 27 left. Of course, you could still just buy a ticket for the final day only for EUR10, but why miss out on the other 2 nights? I'm telling you, both nights are jam packed with great music and the shows are gonna be awesome. This is the real deal people. If we help it grow, we just might turn this into a bomb. Let's see you all there!

I refuse to be hypocritical about the issue and try to look like a good sport. We wanted to win the Rookies Battle of the Bands and we ARE disappointed we came in second.

Sure, second is a good place to be, and we still get to go to Denmark. But we wanted to win. Unfortunately, despite giving it our very best effort, the judges decided to hand over the trophy to Bletchley Park. The audience votes did swing the opposite way though, with the majority going to us. The end result was a very close match with a marginal win of 4% for Bletchley Park.

But to get to the skinny of it, I think we have to appreciate the fact that in ANY competition involving judges, there will always be the element of subjectivity and personal taste. To be fair, we were the only metal band competing against a majority of mainstream styles. In spite of our style not being mainstream, we still made it to 2nd place and that's gotta count for something.

To wrap up though, we would like to congratulate Bletchley Park on their victory (because at the end of the day, we are a good sport). We thank Chris and the crew at Rookies for organising the event and giving us such a good time. And thanks to GenAudio for the excellent sound despite the restrictive and difficult conditions we were playing in.

And on a final note, to all those of you who have followed us throughout this battle and supported us, there are no words to thank you enough. You are un-fucking-believable! And we WILL make it up to you, that's a promise.

Guys, what can I say? You've blown us away. The support you showed us yesterday at the Rookies Battle of the Bands Semi-Final was nothing short of amazing. You left us speechless. And it was great to hear so many of you sing along to our songs.

Now I know many of you are wondering about the result of the semi-final. Well, unfortunately we won't know until saturday. The problem is that there are 4 bands in the semi-final and we're all competing against each other. Basically, yesterday wasn't a knockout round. So after friday's semi-final, the two bands with the most points will proceed to the final. So yeah, we are gonna have to wait till saturday for confirmation. Bummer. But really, yesterday's gig was so awesome that even if we don't win this, we can walk with our heads held high because WE KNOW we have the DAMN BEST CROWD EVER. And hell, what's a band without a crowd?

Anyways, thank you all once again for being there for us. And to those of you who couldn't make it, we missed you but we know you've always been there. You guys are the best! \m/

I swear my head is about to explode. I've just spent two days crawling the web, looking up the best social network sites out there and trying to find a way to coordinate everything so that every time we have a gig I don't have to retype all the info a gazillion times lol. But I'm sure it'll be worth it in the end.

And I feel I'm really going through an attitude shift right now. At first, you start a band because you love music and you dream about playing big gigs to thousands of people. Now my dreams are more centered about making it big just to be able to afford someone to do all this work for me hehe. And maybe afford some roadies and a guitar tech. And maybe some nice groupies to give us massages and make us coffee... hmmm... I think I just might be losing my grip on reality lol.
