Hello Everyone,

I never in a million years thought I would ever write a Christmas song, but....

The other night full of a little too much holiday cheer I wrote and recorded an impromptu Christmas song. Admittedly, it's a little ramshackled piece of joy with a good melody and has got a bit of my take on the Westerburgian tradition. The song is appropriately titled, It's Christmas Time. I've sent it off to be mastered by my good friend Hans Dekline and have decided it only seems right to share such pure holiday "spirit."

We'll be releasing it on bandcamp next week. I'll share the link when it's ready. We'll be doing a "pay what you wish" type thing with it. If things are tight, please accept the song as a gift, no payment necessary. And if you're inclined to pay for it, we'll be happy to accept your payment as a gift to us in return. We'll apply the proceeds to the finalizing of my next record.

While the Onceler (Mr. Ryan) is currently tooling away in his Lerkim (or studio) working on new material, I have realized the dream -- the limited edition signed/numbered Matthew Ryan posters are now available at http://www.matthewryanonline.com for $20 w/ shipping in the U.S. and $25 with shipping outside the U.S.

There are two designs (thanks to J. Hulett Jones and Dominic Peter Hatton), with 50 available of each.

We printed the posters on 100% recycled paper, 60% post consumer waste, processed chlorine-free paper to keep it as green as possible. In order to keep the costs to our fans reasonable mainly the shipping/packaging and not compromise the art of the poster, we chose a lighter paper weight instead of card stock so we could mail them in poster tubes which should protect from any damage to the edges or buckles/creases in the artwork.

Matthew Ryan is back in the studio and I got a really early preview of a jamtastic new song. The melodies are jamlicious. It's gotten us excited for the next musical venture, wherever that should take us... Possibly to The Dead Satellites or possibly another solo record. We'll see...

Here it is! First look at the new disc. Thank you Hulett for the amazing design!

We've had this in the cooker for a while and are now very excited to announce the release of Dear Lover (The Acoustic Version). It will be available May 18th digitally, and through our website at http://www.matthewryanonline.com as well as at shows beginning May 4th.

After a few live performances, we felt that the songs on Dear Lover created a completely unique experience from the original record. And we feel this record captures what Matthew has created live thus far...

"I've been touring in support of Dear Lover since the autumn of 2009. All of the shows to date have been solo. It became pretty obvious, pretty quickly that these songs, when pared down to there absolute center, were communicating a different intimacy in contrast to the recorded versions. After some talking, with Monica (my partner), we concluded that it felt right to make these songs available in their more intimate incarnations as heard by those that have attended the shows so far."

It was recorded at True Tone Studios in Nashville and features David Henry on cello accompaniment. In addition to the songs on Dear Lover, we have added a bonus track, "Beauty Has A Name," co-written by Matthew and Thad Cockrell.

And for those who have attended our shows this year, you've most likely seen the posters we are giving away from the Cactus Cafe in Austin. Our friend and fan J. Hulett Jones created the design for the poster which he then transformed into a beautiful piece of art for the packaging of Dear Lover (The Acoustic Version). He's also created a new poster design that we will be selling on future tours.

Celebrated fine-art photographer Jack Spencer directs and shoots a spare, desolate, rich and beautiful video for The World Is, track 9 from Dear Lover.

The collaboration started last fall when Matthew asked Jack is he would consider putting his pictures to a song of Jack's choosing off of Dear Lover. Jack chose The World Is and what transpired grew to be a true collaboration with moving images that Jack Spencer created specifically for The World Is.

The song The World Is was recently heard on FOX's television show, BONES.

The video for The World Is is a unique, immersive and cinematic cross-pollination of two modern artists. The video can be viewed in HD and cost only $16 to make.
