THE BALD 'OUT OF TUNE' POSTMAN DROPS A BEAUTY..........

Jeff Murray released the 'Standpipe' album on Fearless Folk Records back in 2003; being considered as 'weaving delicate guitar playing with roots rock plus featuring the off-kilter perspective on relationships and life'. Jeff has gained respect in the Boston folk/rock scene since 1995. Releasing 'Shelter from the Strange' and a year later 'No Fear here'.

From 2005 ' 2007 he was the guitarist and singer for the punkrock/blues band The Beat Preachers, releasing two albums. Also: Since 1996 playing guitar and singing for the jam band The Giant Melons.

Under the name Lofiuser, Jeff is recording the music that goes through his mind: 'Best Wishes to All' EP he confesses 'is an enjoyable trip. Psychtronics I think?' Jeff Murray has already contributed with his marvelous guitar play on Small Radio's Le Migre EP in 2009.

This month's Guest Session is by North Shore's renowned sound artist, producer & DJ, Radio Scotvoid (label - earth monkey productions). Originally from Scotland but now living in Salem, he hosts a slot on the "Friday Night Spins" show at The Gulu Gulu Cafe. Its an absolute treat to watch Scott play live - his music ranging from experimental sounds, chiptune electronic, 8bit, wonky, swing jazz sets to dub & noise. He is the main guy behind organizing Salem's Chiptune Electronica Noise Extravaganza and recently performed at New England's first electronic music festival called 'Together'.

Hey everybody, it is a sad day today as we've decided to cut The CURIOS Show.

It may come back someday...it may not?

It has been a real pleasure being able to provide you with diverse beats for diverse peeps. CURIOS started way back in Edinburgh around 1997. An artists collective which started in hope and frustration. Curios grew from a tiny cellar bar in Edinburgh's Grass Market. The city's best djs were soon banging on the door asking for a slot because they could rifle their record boxes and play what they liked. From humble and chaotic beginnings a crew formed. I was part of that original crew and I plan on still promoting the CURIOS vibe.

It has also been a great pleasure to have been able to work alongside some great musicians and dj's over the last couple of years.

I have also had a great time interviewing local North Shore acts and podcasting their work.

I want to say thank you to Jeff Murray for planting the seed and Mark Johnson for keeping it real. I also want to thank Angela Morley and the technical crew for their support over the last few years too, it has been very educational and fun working with you guys.

For now, I am pursuing my own personal ventures which doesn't leave much time for radio djing anymore, so as much as I am sad to leave the station for now, I am really glad that I can focus fully on other things.

The Salem Chiptune, Electronica and Noise Extravaganza (S.C.E.N.E) is a multi-day event combining an eclectic mix of dj's and live electronic music from local artists and designers. The festival’s purpose, in the words of organizer Scott Buchanan, is: “to showcase the amazing talent right here in Salem, the North Shore and beyond and give a stage to new music that might otherwise be overlooked by the mainstream.” This event is a celebration of the artists, DJs, designers and musicians that are helping Salem emerge as a center for cutting-edge arts and music!!!

S.C.E.N.E will take place at a series of venues across Salem, MA through early Fall of 2010.

FELT and Boston8Bit.com are teaming up to bring Chiptune music onto the Boston scene. Chiptune is a relatively obscure form of electro/rock/dance music that uses exclusively old video game hardware for a distinctive sound. Everything from Nintendos, Game Boys, Segas and Commodore 64s are retrofitted into live performance synthesizers and used either solo or with live instruments and vocals. More of a method of performing music than a genre, a live Chiptune set can range from dance music to electro folk to pure art/noise music. Popular in the European, Japanese and Australian underground scenes, Chiptune concerts are still a rarity in the US outside of a few brave souls performing in NYC and Philadelphia basement clubs or house parties. On Thursday, October 8th, FELT will open its doors and let Chiptune in.

Last year's event finally saw Paul King's vision of a 24 hour skating fundraiser. Through the help of sponsors, the community and skaters we were able to raise $60,000. This year, our target is to raise $25,000 and break ground on the new concrete section of the park. The goal of the skate-thon has always been to raise money for new ramps and for the maintenance of existing structures, but more importantly it is our intention to share with everyone, the energy with which Paul lived his life. Participants have the opportunity to compete in skate contests, listen to live music, play in a variety of games, eat plenty of food, hang out with friends and meet new ones!

The Snow just got back from Albania...so I'll be opening the night up for him til 10pm > I'll be spinning me some 70 jazzfunk vinyl.
