Pacific Mambo Orchestra is an unforgettable 19-piece big band that plays Salsa, Mambo, Latin Jazz & Cha Cha. The Orchestra performs regularly throughout the Bay Area at nightclubs and festivals. Members include Karl Perazzo and Jeff Cressman, both of Santana, along with singers Braulio Barrera, Omar Ledezma Jr. and Alexa Weber Morales. Festival favorite Pacific Mambo Orchestra plays the music of Latin giants such as Machito, Tito Puente, Celia Cruz and many others and includes those rich traditions in their own contemporary and original arrangements.  Trumpeter Steffen Kuehn and Pianist Christian Tumalan, both experienced bandleaders in their own right, formed this Latin Salsa Big Band to bring back and build upon the great Latin Big Band sounds of the 1940’s through the 60’s. The group has a lot of brass—the Orchestra’s instrumentation consists of 4 trumpets, 4 trombones and 5 saxophones, in addition to piano, bass, timbales, congas, bongos and lead singer, Alexa Weber Morales.

PMO’s members have performed and/or recorded with the industry’s biggest names, including Carlos Santana, Ray DeLa Paz, the Jose Lugo Guasabara Orchestra, Los Adolescentes, Isaac Delgado, Gilberto Santarosa, Tito Rojas, La India, Victor Manuelle and many others. They're always a favorite at the Salsa Stage at the San Jose Jazz Summer Fest, so here's your chance to dance off the winter "blues." Come early and warm up to a Salsa DJ.

Backed by a 9-piece band that bounds from fearless jazz to irresistible salsa, Grammy-nominated vocalist Alexa Weber Morales performs originals from her third album, which was fan-funded on Kickstarter.com.

I Wanna Work For You is Alexa's first all-original album. Like all her work, it melds funk, jazz, Brazilian and salsa grooves; the 10 tunes ruminate on the Gulf of Mexico oil spill and naked grabs for power, misguided love affairs and tired marriages, stratospheric self-actualization and gender-bent blues.

Founded in 1973, Yoshi's has become one of the world's most respected jazz venues and won a reputation as the Bay Area's premier location for Japanese food and jazz. Yoshi's has hosted legends such as Betty Carter, Max Roach, Dizzy Gillespie, Joe Williams, Diana Krall, Branford Marsalis, McCoy Tyner, Harry Connick Jr. and Oscar Peterson among hundreds of others.
