BLACKCHAPEL: A MASKED BALL

Paying homage to Guiseppe Verdi's opera, Un Ballo In Maschera (A Masked Ball), we welcome you to our very own masked ball. The opera's first production was at the Teatro Apollo, Rome on 17th February 1859 and 151 years later, we bring in the old and the new to give you a unique, unforgettable evening!

LIVE RECITALS:
MARMADUKE DANDO HUTCHINGS
http://www.myspace.com/marmadukedando
Marmaduke Dando is a singer of morose ballads and frisky drunken jigs, often extracting references to early Scott Walker, Brel and Weill. Bred from genuine pirate ancestry in a southern port, now based in London. He writes about all the horrors and beauties of the modern world, and barks them back at it with his dear band on the cold and regimented performance stages of London. His songs have been set to films, played in the Houses of Parliament, and used as an aid for aspiring Casanovas.
A debut album is due out in March 2010, on vinyl, download and stream.

ADHAM FARAMAWY
http://www.myspace.com/adhamfaramawy
Adham Faramawy is a London-based artist of Egyptian descent. He is affiliated with the !WOWOW! group and graduated from The Slade School of Fine Art in 2004.

He has been actively involved with URA! gallery, exhibiting his work as part of the 10th Istanbul Biennial. POETRY RECITALS:
JOHN MICHAEL PARNHAM
Not much is known about the background of this elusive yet extremely talented poet. With rare ease he captures words and pins them down before they take to flight before your very eyes. His recitals have been included on Selfish Cunt's legendary English Chamber Music album. John Michael Parnham performs for us tonight.

With the seasons changing, we are getting a little overcome at the nostalgia of autumn shades and the golden sun low in the sky. To celebrate this enchanting time of year we'd like to stash away those disco lights and ask you to join us for a picnic in the forest.

As well as knocking up some proper nosh, our shiny friend, Chancery Blame, will also be fiddling away on his violin in a string quartet. The day will also be blessed with more acoustics from a man close to our hearts - Marmaduke Dando. Marmaduke is an earnest and accomplished songwriter from Holloway and we cant wait to hear him in the woods :)

If you are in the area, please do join us with your picnic blankets and frolic in the forest with conker tournaments, roast chestnuts, mulled wine, poems and acoustics.

Exact location will come later for those of you signed up for the picnic.

If you could all bring claret, colour and a tiny piece of your soul as payment, that would suffice.
