So looking forward to sharing the evening with my good friend.

AMANDA WEST: If an inquisitive mind, an open heart, and a beautiful soul took a walk and discussed what it means to Be, their conversation might sound like the music of philosophical folk songstress, Amanda West. The California based songstress has played stages up & down the West coast and offers notable influences from Sarah McLachlan, Alanis Morissette, and Loreena McKennitt. Pete Solomon accompanies on world percussion, gentle keyboards & classically influenced jazz saxophone. West's all original songs explores topics from humanity’s impact on the planet, to musings on women’s role in society, intimate stories of love, and recipes for self empowerment and cultural evolution. www.amandawestmusic.com

This adventurous trio will negotiate a risky musical landscape while re-imagining standards and original music. Strikingly pure and exposed. No chords, no drums, no hiding places. Spontaneous and disarming. Just vocals (Inga), sax (Anton) and bass (Dan)

Clear harmony with a strong melodic component, inspired by three distinct voices, gives this trio an original and formative sound.

Americana and jazz meet their neighbors when Inga Swearingen and Round Mountain bring their unique musical fusions to our stage for a boundary-hopping double bill.

A regular performer on the radio show A Prairie Home Companion, Inga applies her fresh, luminous voice to folk and jazz music creating an open, heartfelt spectrum of emotion. Inspired by everything from straight-ahead jazz and bossa nova to American and Swedish folk songs, Inga combines dead-on pitch and natural phrasing with an infectious, positive spirit. Tonight she takes us to the new musical territory she pioneered with her most recent CD, First Rain, which she's dubbed "Swedish farm jazz," mixing bluesy jazz and beautiful down-home folk.

This evening Inga is joined by her sister Britta and guitarist Jeff Miley.

Round MountainLending dusty American grit to a worldly amalgam of global influences, Santa Fe-based duo Round Mountain presents folk music that is both foreign and familiar. Sometimes raucous (imagine trumpet and accordion played simultaneously by one person), sometimes subtle (the harp-like sound of the West African kora), the multi-multi-instrumentalist brothers Char and Robby Rothschild connect to their listeners' hearts with great songs, emotional honesty, and an engaging live show. The pair have parlayed their global musical passions into opening for Toumani Diabate and Bela Fleck, accompanying traditional Irish music's great innovator Andy Irvine, and recording great albums like their recent Windward.

Inga and Britta Swearingen join brother duo Round Mountain and Amanda West to share music and song rooted in family, nature and human spirit. Listeners travel down a dusty road of rugged beauty that combines American grit and global traditional music.

Round Mountain: Blending American grit with a worldly amalgam of global influences, Santa Fe-based duo Round Mountain presents a take on folk music that is both foreign and familiar. The multi-multi-instrumentalist band of brothers has travelled the globe absorbing bits and pieces of musical cultures, returning to filter them through their own sepia-toned Americana framework. The multi-multi instrumentalist band of brothers will sing and play accordion, guitar, trumpet, highland bagpipes, djembe, cajon and kora.

Inga Swearingen: With her new release, First Rain , is a compelling mix of homegrown folk, and soulful, bluesy jazz, with acoustic layers of guitar, stand up bass, violin and cello that frame Inga's clear, translucent voice. Whether putting her personal stamp on a jazz standard or combining the understated grooves of bossa nova with Swedish folk melodies, Inga captivates her audience. Joining the Swearingen sisters is guitarist, Jeff Miley.

Amanda West: A performing songwriter for half her lifetime, Amanda West has played from Los Angeles to Seattle , including Yoshi's in San Francisco, the Freight & Salvage in Berkeley and a handful of exquisite West Coast festivals. Amanda West is accompanied by Pete Solomon on world percussion, keyboards.
